Form Fits Function

The human hand is incredibly complex, in both function and form. The underlying anatomy can be visible from the surface, which in turn makes the hand a truly difficult subject to render effectively. This project aimed to showcase the hand performing an action, in this case opening a lighter, and highlight the mechanisms at play in the anatomical sense. Deformation of the skin, blood vessels, thenar muscles, tendons, etc. are all elements than when effectively rendered, come together to form an accurate, beautiful colored piece such as this.
