This infographic highlights the key characteristics of Odonturus dentatus, better known as the Kenyan deathstalker scorpion. A mixed media illustration, this project started off as a traditional pen and ink illustration using a preserved specimen as reference, and then scanned into Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop to fully round out the infographic. Showcasing my versatility as both an artist and a researcher, this project demanded strict attention to detail and an in-depth knowledge of the subject matter to properly portray this arachnid.

One of my first projects interacting with different colors of light, in this case Red and Green. This personal piece is a self portrait of myself back in 2024, and was a beautiful exercise in color theory and a great opportunity to showcase my abilities with traditional color illustrations. Done from direct observation (using a mirror), I had set up red and green tinted lights on either side of myself, which created a complex map of highlights and shadows across the facial features.

Cephalotes rohweri - the Turtle Ant, found in southern states and part of Mexico. This little ant uses its oddly shaped head to block the entrance of their nest to prevent intruders from entering. This project spanned utilized many different softwares, from 3D Modeling, Digital Rending, Scene Modeling, and digital touchups. To model this little guy from the ground up took extensive research, and taking the time to familiarize myself with the complex anatomy found in many insect species. The end state is a high quality render that accompanies a 3D printed diorama that showcases these ants in their natural habitat.

Not a scientific illustration, but rather a showcase of possibilities of digital illustration. A fun personal project, this digital rendering shows an everyday object that you'd find at your local gas station - a Ring Pop. A common candy that you wouldn't think twice about, but when broken down and analyzed, you realize it is full of vibrant color, shadow, and forms. This project allowed me to show how truly creative digital illustration allows you to be, and how you can bring out the beauty in everyday objects

An infographic showcasing the developmental changes that occur in a fetal pig in the womb. Late stage gestation involves muscle development, fatty layers forming in the skin, and fully developed organs in preparation for life. This digital illustration showcases these elements in a visually effective manor, and was used as part of a social media campaign following the gestation progress of the sow display at the Iowa state fair, managed by the ISU Swine Medicine Education Center in Ames, Iowa.

The human hand is incredibly complex, in both function and form. The underlying anatomy can be visible from the surface, which in turn makes the hand a truly difficult subject to render effectively. This project aimed to showcase the hand performing an action, in this case opening a lighter, and highlight the mechanisms at play in the anatomical sense. Deformation of the skin, blood vessels, thenar muscles, tendons, etc. are all elements than when effectively rendered, come together to form an accurate, beautiful colored piece such as this.

A true combination of art and science, tattoo's are more than colorful images on the skin. The science behind the pigment staying in the dermis for decades, combined with the artistic skill and quality of the beautiful designs culminate to make a beautiful product. This illustration captures these ideas, and displays them in high quality fashion. One of my favorite projects I have ever done, this piece holds a special place in my heart.
